In the test kitchen this week:
scones - yup Sam has got to learn to make scones all on her own !
Well after many disasters( lets just say the chooks are well fed) I finally made a batch of scones that my scone mentor - Master Lee, would be proud of!!
We had the lovely ladies from the Presbyterian Care Group come down for a morning tea on the balcony at Ilk and it was case of "Put your hand up if your not having scones", not many hands came up.
Well after I disaster batch at the start of the day the pressure was on to get it right - luckily with my Mum's tuiton a light and fluffy batch came out of the the oven just on their arrival, thank you ladies for a lovely morning.
So what was I doing wrong? many things but the most important was that in my effort not to overmix them I wasn't mixing them enough - now I getting the jist of things I hope my scones will rise to a whole new level!
